The UNECA Africa Hall Artwork Conservation project is for the protection and conservation works to existing artworks within Africa Hall.  The work is to be undertaken concurrent with and as an auxiliary project to the Main Africa Hall Refurbishment Project.

The conservation works must be undertaken over an extended period, to allow for preconstruction and post-construction conservation. Accordngly, the artwork conservation shall be carried out in two stages, the first of which shall start just after the early/decanting works and before starting of the main refubsrhsment works of the Africa Hall project scheduled for late 2018.

LEATHER WORKS

This artwork conservation scope of work comprises one piece of leather artwork as described hereunder.

Art work 3:An embossed leather skin in a timber frame, commemorating the silver jubilee (25 year) of construction of Africa Hall is made in 1983.

The work is of tanned hide (most likely goat), embossed and decorated with a 25 year emblem. The mounting is via a profiled timber frame, with tensioned flat leather thongs holding the skin centrally in the frame, and a painted plywood backing. The thongs are nailed into a rebate in the frame. The leather is not attached to the plywood.

The artwork is hung and removable, as such all conservation works may be performed offsite.

Interested companies are therefore required to submit  their EoI. The completed Vendor Response Form should be submitted to the above-mentioned email address or fax number on or before 18 April 2018.

Vendors interested in participating in the planned solicitation process should complete the Vendor Response Form (http://www.un.org/depts/ptd/pdf/eoi14957.pdf) of this EOI and fax it or email it to UNECA before the closing date set forth above.
