DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENTS
United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia is seeking for
Expressions of Interest (EOls) from qualified companies with the required expertise and experience for
Artwork Conservation of the Africa Hall project. The UNECA Africa Hall Artwork Conservation project is for the protection and conservation works to existing artworks within Africa Hall. The work is to be undertaken  concurrent with and as an auxiliary project to the Main Africa Hall Refurbishment Project.
The conservation works must be undertaken over an extended period, to allow for pre construction and
post-construction conservation. Accordingly, the artwork conservation shall be carried out in two stages; the first of which shall start just after the early/decanting works and before starting of the main refubsrhsment works of the Africa Hall project scheduled for late 2018.

GLASS ARTWORKS
This artwork conservation scope of work comprises two glass artworks as described hereunder.
Artwork 1: 'Total Liberation of Africa' stained glass triptych in steel frame built in 1961.
The central window is comprised of 64 panels, each approximately 1025mm x 1005mm, in steel framing.
The two side windows are each comprised of 32 panels, each approximately 1100mm x 1005mm, in steel framing. The technique used is that of traditional stained glass work, with antique blown glass set in cames, soldered with a lead-tin alloy. The glass is probably antique blown glass from Saint Just, either coloured or flashed. Certain pieces of glass, principally those of the faces and limbs of the figures, are painted in grisaille and kiln-fired. Some of the glass is flashed (notably blue on yellow and red on white).
The panels are to be removed and moved offsite for conservation. Restoration works to the frame and the panel removal! re-installation to be undertaken onsite.
Artwork 2: An eight-part stained glass internal window built in 1961.
The technique used is that of traditional stained glass work, with antique blown glass set in cames, soldered with a lead-tin alloy glazing beads in perimeter frames. The glass is probably antique blown glass from Saint Just, painted in grisaille and kiln-fired.

The panels are to be removed and moved offsite for conservation. Restoration works to the frame and the panel removal/re-installation to be undertaken onsite.
