UNICEF Ethiopia Office is seeking Request for Proposals (RFP) from Firm/ Company/Organisation-  To adapt a training manual and conduct (ToT) on basic business skills, life skills, child protection, and leadership skills for Trainers.

1.      Background:

UNICEF is currently supporting the Amhara Bureau of Women and Children Affairs (BoWCA) to implement child friendly social welfare programme in the region with a focus on enhancing families’ access to economic capacity strengthening services, basic services and child protection services to prevent and respond to child-family separation as well as associated child protection risks such as violence against children.  The program seeks to build a system for effective coordination of livelihood, child protection and basic services through establishment of a case management system at the kebele and woreda levels to enhance referral of families and children to preventive as well as response services.  The program also seeks to build on existing mechanisms such as the Community Care Coalitions and building local level social welfare workforce dedicated to providing services to vulnerable children and their families.

2. Objectives.

The objective of the consultancy is to adapt a training manual and conduct ToT on basic business skills, life skills, child     protection, and leadership skills for Trainers who will train families providing kinship/foster care to vulnerable children as part of a family strengthening effort to prevent further child-family separation.   

3. Expected Background and Experience of the Firm

The firm providing technical assistance should have at least 10 years of experience in providing micro enterprise development training with a focus on tailoring training needs and materials to the particular needs of poor and vulnerable communities.  The firm should have qualified trainers, have prior experience in basic business skills training, leadership training and life skills training, training of trainers in these areas, coaching of trainers and adequate experience in adapting training curriculum to community needs. The consulting firm should have extensive experience in training vulnerable families, particularly women.
