Pre-Bidding meeting

Construction of EDGET BENDENET PRIMARY SCHOOL in Hawassa (LRPS-2024-9189331) @ 02:00 pm on 16th April 2024

Background

The purpose of this bid was to get qualified vendors who could Construction OF EDGET BENDENET PRIMARY SCHOOL located in Hawassa - Sidama Region.

The Contracts Officer briefed on the objective and requirements of the bid, what is expected from bidders - eligibility and submission requirements, and related details of the bid document.

The Construction Engineer explained the technical requirements and expectations of UNICEF from the bid outcome in detail.

UNICEF has the right to consider multiple contractors for this bid.
Bidders are strictly advised to use the financial proposal format shared by UNICEF.

Clarification on Bid Submission – Technical & Financial

 

Whilst sending offers electronically to eth-supplytenderbox@unicef.org. Technical and Financial offers must be e-mailed separately with the bid reference number, company name and type of documentation clearly specified before the submission deadline.

Completion of the Declaration part of the bidding document

The need for careful completion of the declaration part was explained as the document will be reviewed to prequalify contractors. If ambiguity is created at the time of completion a clarification can be sent out through supplyaddisababa@unicef.org and will be addressed asap.

Creating a child safety plan prior to the commencement of the construction

Since, this specific construction will be executed inside a jammed school compound, the contractor must have prior planning and approval on how to differentiate the school environment to that of the construction site to avoid causing harm to the pupil.

The requirement of a bid bond for this bid

UNICEF does not need a bid bond from the bid participants it's free of any charges.

Arrangements to be made in relation to site visit.

Prior to arriving at construction sites, contractors must book appointments with the focal person by calling at 0911680113. Furthermore, contractors must be mindful that the purpose of site visits is only to tour around and have a better understanding of the site. Raising technical questions is not allowed at the time of the visit and such type of question can only  be addressed through formally placing a clarification question with the dedicated e-mail for that.

Construction Site Handover and site management

The responsibility to taking over construction sites lies with the contractors. UNICEF will not be responsible for this key Task.  All arrangements must be made and executed by Contractor, particularly given there is existing operational school where the construction to undertake with the school compound

The requirement for key personnel and how can we get the number of machines and equipment required?

 

Minimum requirements for key staff are indicated in the RFP. The bidders are expected to go through the document and prepare a proposal that will show their capacity regarding the organization of personnel. Additionally, maximum supervision and quality of work shall be expected from the contractors, the quality of their technical submission will also determine whether they are successful or not. 

 

Moreover, all scanned documents should be readable and clear. The necessary documents such as CVs, testimonials, and degrees of personnel should be attached and well organized.

The bidders are expected to review all requirements set in the RFP and propose sufficient resources for the timely completion of the works.

  • FINAL SUBMISSION DEADLINE FOR THIS BID IS 24 April 2024 @2:00 PM
  • UNICEF strictly advises bidders to read the terms and conditions of the RFP need to submit them at least a day before the submission deadline and late submission is unacceptable.
