The project is funded by a European Commission grant entitled Peaceful and Resilient Borderlands in the Horn of Africa and will be implemented in partnership with the Ethiopian Catholic Church (ECC). The Peacebuilding component of the action works on Strengthening integrated Peace, Resilience, and Disaster Risk Reduction for cross-border communities in the Karamoja Cluster. The project intends to work with pastoralists/agro-pastoralists, women and youth-led CSOs, traditional leaders, local/national authorities, and the private sector to “enhance effectiveness of conflict prevention and mitigation” by using stakeholder analysis/mapping and gender-sensitive conflict analysis, strengthening community structures, promoting local/inclusive initiatives that reflect local interests/needs coupled with connections to structures (regional/national/international) to see policies/actions undertaken supporting localized gender and climate responsive preventative measures, and seeking to manage cross-border conflicts reflecting local priorities with strong participation in advocacy that mitigates cross-border conflict.
