Ethiopian Roads Authority Signed Contract for 91.1km Road Upgrade

The Ethiopian Roads Authority has signed a contract with a Chinese contractor for the upgrade of the 91.1km long Mizan-Dima road, which links Ethiopia with South Sudan. The agreement is signed today, 5 June 2013 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The  1.1 billion Ethiopian birr project cost will be covered by The Ethiopian government and the World Bank.

The road is part of the Mizan-Dima-Boma road. Upgrading of the road scheduled to be completed within three years, Samson Wondimu, Communication director with the authority, told Ethiopian News Agency.

The road which links southern part of Ethiopian with South Sudan is said to help to enhance economic and social ties between the two countries.
