Ethiopian Investment Delegation Meets Global Brands Representatives

investment-delegatesAn Ethiopian investment delegation met with representatives of well-known global brands in Hong Kong, Fitsum Arega, Director General of the Ethiopian Investment Commission disclosed. The global brands represented in the meeting include H&M, VF, GAP, L&F, Target, Academy, Ralpha Lauren, New Balance, Under Armor.

During the meeting, PVH’s vice president shared their company’s experience at Hawassa Industrial Park. PVH Corp, formerly known as the Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation, is an American clothing giant which owns renowned brands such as Van Heusen, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, IZOD, Arrow, Warner's, Olga, True & Co., and Geoffrey Beene. PVH Corp has been selected to be one of the two winners of the 2018 U.S. Secretary of State’s Award for Corporate Excellence (ACE), an achievement recognizing U.S. firms that uphold high standards of responsible business conduct. During the award ceremony, PVH Corp. Chairman and CEO Emanuel Chirico had said, “We are in a unique position to make positive impacts in the places around the world where we work and live. One of those places is Ethiopia, where we set out almost five years ago to create a sustainable, vertically integrated, apparel manufacturing industry.”

Mr. Fitsum has said in a tweet, “The brands showed interest to join as Africa is the last and best frontier for Apparel if developed.”
