President Briefs Attendees of AIF about Investment Activities Being Carried Out by Ethiopia

Ethiopia’s President Sahlework Zewde, who traveled to Johannesburg on Wednesday to attend the Africa Investment Forum (AIF), attended the “Championing Investments: Presidential Chats’ Panel Discussion” yesterday at the opening session of the forum. Sahlework pointed out the activities which were being carried out in Ethiopia to attract investment during a discussion which focused on concrete and transformative actions by Heads of State for a new business Africa. The president said Ethiopia’s electric railway and Ethiopian Airlines help in attracting investment.

According to President Sahlework, Ethiopia believes that the private sector has a role in accelerating economic growth and assisting government’s aims to the country to reach lower-middle-income status by 2025.

“We have a target to move the country to another level. The main focus for economic growth is making Ethiopia the manufacturing hub of Africa. We plan to be there by 2025,” she said.

The private sector plays its role in speeding up the economic growth and helping the government in achieving Ethiopia’s goal to reach lower-middle-income status by 2025.
