Ethiopia: Mogle Bottled Water Manufacturing Set to Expand

Mogle Bottled Water Manufacturing, bottler of One Water, is to embark on expanding and tripling its production capacity and manufacturing plastic bottles and caps.

Mogle currently bottles 32,000 bottles of water an hour. With the expansion, it will be able to triple its production capacity and bottle 96,000 bottles of water and manufacture 18,000 plastic bottles and 20,000 caps per hour.

In order to realize its expansion plan, Mogle leased an additional 16,000Sqm land with Birr 28 million and imported three pieces of machinery from Tech-Long packaging, a Chinese company established in 1999 which has 1,300 bottling lines in more than 54 countries. Mogle’s CEO, Eniyew Zeleke, said, “The investment aims at saving forex incurred from importing materials... We will be fully operational with the new set of machinery next January.”

Mogale, which is located in Sebeta town, is one of 70 water bottling companies in the country that produce nearly 3.5 billion litres of water a year, while the nation’s total water consumption stands at 72 billion litres. According to the CEO, the company is planning to introduce bottled water with 0.3ml, 0.4ml and 20l sizes.
