Ethiopia: New Pharmaceutical Plant Inaugurated in the Eastern Industrial Zone

A pharmaceutical plant built at a cost of USD 85 million was inaugurated in Dukem, Ethiopia, on June 10, 2018 by Shasheng Pharmaceuticals PLC.

Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen said that the plant, which was built in the premises of the Eastern Industrial Zone, would generate income for the country and would help the country save the 500 million USD which is annually spent to purchase medicines. The deputy prime minister also said the government would continue its support for local and foreign investors.

The pharmaceutical plant has an annual production capacity of 5 billion solid preparations, 300 million ampoules and 10 million large volume parenterals.
