The contractors will start their work in the coming Ethiopian Fiscal year in Amhara, Ethiopian Somali, Oromia, Benishangul Gumuz and SNNP regional states. The construction of the roads is estimated to be completed within three or four years.
ERA’s director general Araya Girmay said that the authority had built over 7,910 km asphalt roads within the last three years. He also added that the current projects would create employment opportunities and assist in the increment of people’s livelihood upon completion. According to Ato Araya, a feasibility study is being undertaken by ERA for the construction and maintenance of over 180 road projects.
