New Bottled Water Joined Ethiopia’s Market

Top Natural Water joined Ethiopia’s bottled water market being the 68th brand. The water is being purified and bottled by Abebe Dinku Water and non-Alcoholic Beverages Factory, which has an investment of 273 million Birr.

The new entrant offers 0.35 liters, 0.6 liters, one liter, two liters and 20 liters of bottled waters. According to Shimelis Ajemma, Marketing Manager of Dinku, from every bottle the company contributes 0.2 cents to provide groundwater for the people living in water-scarce areas in Ethiopia.

Furthermore, the company has not yet acquired certification of the quality assessment from Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprise as well as Food, Medicine, Health Care Administration & Control Authority (FMHACA).

Top’s purifying and bottling machine was bought from a Chinese company by the name Newamstar. Supplier of the machine is said to have specialized in machinery installation in bottled water producing plants and supplied equipment to international companies such as Coca-Cola and Nestle.

It was 2 years back Dinku got established. Its factory has a production capacity of purifying and packing 18,000 bottles of water an hour and 180,000 liters a day.
It currently employees 147 people. However, the company is already aiming for expansion and plans to boost its current production capacity to purify and pack 42,000 bottles per hour.
