The state-owned Ethiopian Railways Corporation (ERC) disclosed the construction of the new railway academy will commence by the coming September. The academy is planned to be constructed in Bishoftu city, Oromia State, on a 151 hectares of land.

According to Fana Broadcasting Corporation (FBC), the finance for the construction was obtained from the Chinese government and it is going to be undertaken at an outlay of 373.14 million Yuan.

The construction is going to be undertaken in different phases and it is scheduled to be concluded in 2 years time. When the first phase of the project is concluded, the academy will enroll up to 1,000 students and educate them in 7 different fields of study.
