Ethiopia Earned 959 Million USD from Tourism

The first 4 months of the current fiscal year saw Ethiopia earned 959 million USD from the tourism sector. During the period 256,000 tourists visited Ethiopia, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MoCT).

Compared to the same period last year, the revenue increased by 9.9 percent, Gezahegn Abate, Public and International Relations Director of MoCT, said. Gezahegn attributed the performance to the return of peace and stability in the country.

The number of visitors that visited Ethiopia in the last 2 years had been on the decline, Gezahegn explained. However, now more tourists are came to the country, he added.

By the conclusion of the current fiscal year, Ethiopia aims to attract 1 million from the tourism sector.
