Ethiopia: Homa Construction Given Mining License

Homa Construction PLC, company incorporated in Ethiopia, has received mining license for limestone and gypsum from the Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Natural Gas. The license grants the Homa to mine the minerals for 20 years with the possibility of renewal up to 10 years.

The mining contract was signed by Motuma Mekassa, Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Natural Gas on behalf of the Ministry while Adugna Ejigu Managing Director of Homa Construction represented the miners.

The agreement stipulates that Homa would mine with a capita of 98.8 million Birr on 13.45 square kilometers of land in West Shoa Zone, Oromia State.

Homa was expected to produce more than 10 million tons of limestone and gypsum by the coming decade, Bacha Faji, public relations and communication director at the Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Natural Gas, said.
