Sika Abyssinia Chemicals Manufacturing PLC, an affiliate of the Swizz Company Sika AG, inaugurated its manufacturing plant in Ethiopia. The plant is said to produce admixtures, waterproofing, sealing and bonding, refurbishment, flooring and roofing categories of construction chemicals.

The company’s manufacturing plant is located in Alemgena City, Oromia State. The plant was inaugurated after 2 years since the company’s establishment in Ethiopia and its products includes admixture products such as accelerator, retarder, water reducers, plasticizer and the like.

According to Sika Abyssinia’s General Manager, Peetrisor Grinsenau, putting into consideration the potential of Ethiopia’s construction industry, the manufacturer is set to further expand its production into roofing liquid applied membranes, hydrophobic, waterproofing mortars, tile adhesives, grouts and dry shakes, next year.

Sika's mother company in Switzerland has already set up 18 subsidiaries across the African continent. The company is present in 99 countries across the globe and hires 17,000 people.
