Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) traded 1.3 billion Birr worth coffee, sesame and pea beans in the month of September. The total volume of the traded coffee, sesame and pea beans was 24,714 tons.

Out of the entire goods traded by the exchange, coffee took a major share. Out of the entire traded goods, coffee took 69.17 percent of the volume and 85.6 percent in value. The amount of coffee transacted was worth 1.1 billion Birr. However, compared to the previous month performance, volume and value of coffee has dropped by 18.62pc and 12.54pc respectively.

The total volume of coffee traded was 17,219 tons while 6,970 tons and 705 tons pea beans and sesame was traded by the exchange. As to the value of trade, pea beans were worth 11 million Birr while sesame was 181 million Birr.
