Export from Ethiopia’s Industry Parks Generated 248 Million USD

Export from the 3 industrial parks already operating in Ethiopia in the last fiscal year has been reported to be 248 million USD. These parks are Hawassa, Bole Lemi and Eastern Zone.

Among the industry parks Hawassa was the one to enter the market the latest, 4 months ago. The park has managed to generate 200 million USD. The other 2 industrial parks managed to bring 24 million USD each.

Items that started from the industrial parks to the international market were processed agricultural products, textiles and garment, and leather and leather products.

According to Fortune, Ethiopia was the second country globally to attract foreign direct investment in textiles and garment industry. Ethiopia was second only to Vietnam.

In addition to the 3 industrial parks, Mekelle and Kombolcha parks have been completed and started recruiting investors to invest in the parks.

The government is also constructing 10 additional parks. Private investors on the other hand are constructing 4 parks.
