Ethiopia’s Parliament Approved 320.8 Billion Birr Budget

Ethiopia’s lower house, House of Peoples’ Representatives (HPR), approved budget of 320.8 Billion Birr budget for the 2017/2018 fiscal year. When compared to the previous fiscal year, the budget shows 16.9 percent (46.4 billion Birr) increase.

Out of this budget, 114.67 billion Birr is allocated for capital expenditure. And from the total capital expenditure, 80.3 billion Birr will be covered from government treasure while 14.3 billion Birr and 20.3 billion Birr, will be covered from donation and loan respectively.

From the entire budget 117 billion Birr is allocated for subsidizing state administrations. 7 billion Birr on the other hand is set aside for sustainable development goals (SDGs).
