Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) has prepared a draft regulation for the opening of a one-stop shop in the industrial parks in Ethiopia.

The draft document is said to enhance expansion of industrial parks, accelerating the growth of manufacturing sector and supplying quality infrastructure. According to Fana Broadcasting Corporation, the regulation is expected to be promulgated in a 1 month time.

Stakeholders also discussed on the draft regulation on February 20, 2017,.

Commenting on the development Fitsum Arega, Commissioner for EIC, said “The draft regulation will allow investors to focus only on production as well as to get convenient and efficient banking, costume, labor and social, telecom and other related services within the park,”

It was in 2015 that Ethiopia passed a bill regarding the development of industrial parks. As per the proclamation industrial parks can be developed by any profit making enterprises; which can be public, public – private or private.
