Ethiopia’s Prime Minister, Hailemariam Dessalegn, disclosed the preliminary estimate for the harvest from Meher season to increase by 12 percent.  

According to the Premier, the harvest is the highest Ethiopia has ever collected. When the Belg and irrigation farms were harvested the amount of the production would increase, Hailemariam furthered.

The increase in the production is said to be attributed to suitable weather conditions, active participation of farmers and use of modern agriculture systems as well as machineries. The private sector, unions and the government as well used machineries widely to transform the agricultural sector.
