Ethiopia: Agency Bought 20 Truck for 105 million Birr

Addis Ababa City Beautification and Administration Agency made a purchase of 20 dry waste loading trucks at an outlay of 105 million Birr. 10 of these trucks are going to be used for compacting and transporting 100 meter cubic dry waste while the other 10 will clean Ethiopia’s capital asphalt roads during the night time.

Commenting on the development Dawit Ayele, the Agency’s head, said the trucks would enhance the city’s modernization of dry waste treatment by effectively transporting the waste to land fields.

The trucks are scheduled to go operational in the coming weeks. Once the trucks have gone operational, the city will be able to transport 1000 meter cubic of water emitted every day.

According to Dawit, Addis Ababa has a 10 million Birr annual fund for setting up wastebaskets along the main roads to realize the city’s vision to become Africa’s clean and beautiful city by 2020.

In addition to these, the Agency had set up clubs at 270 schools with the aim of creating awareness regarding treatment waste as resource, the head explained. He furthered that efforts are being made to include waste disposal, treatment and reuse in the education curriculum.
