Ethiopian Broadcasting Authority (EBA) has issued the very first private satellite TV broadcasting license in Ethiopia for Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC).

Commenting on the development Woldu Ymesef, CEO of FBC, explained the Corporation has been finalizing preparations to commence a televised broadcast. The proposals were submitted following the Authority’s invitation in April for applicants that are interested to acquire private TV stations, Woldu noted.

FBC has now signed agreements with 4 different foreign firms to set up studios, purchase editing machines and for other TV broadcast related services, the CEO explained. The Corporation had also finished content preparations and about to start the TV transmission, he furthered.

According to Woldu the new TV station is planned to particularly focus on news and current issues while also incorporating entertainment and educational programs. Trial transmission is scheduled to start on November and full TV broadcast on January, the CEO added.
