Ethiopia Earned 309 Million USD from Minerals Export

Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Natural Gas disclosed Ethiopia made 309 million USD from the sales of different minerals in the international market.

Bacha Faji, Public Relations Head at the Ministry, explained the revenue was generated from the export of 8,577 kilograms of gold, 8,485 kilograms of opal, 729,936 kilograms of different jewelry mines, 329 cubic meters of marble and 191 tons of tantalum.

According to Bacha, companies working in different mining areas brought 138 million USD from exporting their products. On the other hand artisanal miners made 171 million USD, he added.

The target for the period was 500 million USD, the Head explained. The performance is only 61 percent of the target set, he added.
