Ethiopia: Inflation Rate Stays Almost the Same for April

Year on year inflation rate of Ethiopia has dropped to 7.4 percent in April from 7.5 percent in March.

Ethiopian Statistics Agency’s report noted during the month of April, food inflation increased by 6.3 percent while inflation for non-food items rose to 8.7 percent.

The reason behind non-food inflation is due to the rise in the prices of chat, clothing and footwear, construction materials, firewood and household goods and furnishing.

On the other hand, month-on-month general consumer price index (CPI) during the April has declined to 1.5 percent.
