Ethiopian Government Plans to Construct Condos

Diriba Kuma, Mayor of Addis Ababa, states that the Addis Ababa City Administration will begin constructing houses for rent to Civil Servants and Low-income Dwellers of the city in the current Ethiopian fiscal year, the Daily Monitor reported.

The Houses would be constructed 1.5 KM away from the main road.

The Mayor gave a briefing on choices available for those relocating due to development projects stating their 3 alternatives. Condominium houses will be given to those who can afford the required advance payment while those who can’t would receive Kebele houses. If the number of those evicted exceeds the available houses, Mr. Diriba states that they are to receive the condominium houses on a rental basis.

Moreover, he states that condo winners of the 11th round would begin receiving 8,422 houses built over the past years but not handed over to beneficiaries. And as to the 1,200 houses being constructed under the 40/60 project, the Mayor told The Daily Monitor that they will be completed this month.
