Ethiopia Earned Over USD 1 Billion from Export

Ethiopia earned over USD 1 billion from export trade in the past five months of this budget year, Walta Information Center reported.

Public relation head of the Ministry, Amakle Yimam, told Walta Information Center that Ethiopia earned close to USD 1.1 billion from the export of agricultural, manufacturing and mining products in the past five months of the current budget year. The Ministry was able to achieve 74.7 percent of its plan.The Ministry’s target for export earnings for the five month period was a little over USD 1.4 billion. However, revenue has decreased by almost 8 percents compared to the performance of the same period of the last budget year, he said.

Amakale noted that the decrease in international price of some of the country’s export products contributed for the decline of export revenue.

According to information obtained from the Ministry, agricultural commodities export leads the revenue generated from export by earning the country close to USD 789.4 million followed by manufacturing products which brought in close to USD 146 million.
