Light train manufacturing factory in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia is to launch production, Fana Broadcasting Corporate reported.
The factory is a subsidiary to Metal and Engineering Corporation’s (METEC) Locomotive Industry and is situated in a place commonly known as Cherkos.
Currently, the factory has manufactured a prototype light train.
Manager of the Locomotive Industry Tsegaye Gebrekirstos said the factory was established at a cost of 285 million Birr to import manufacturing materials and manufacture the sample train.
Tsegaye said in addition to assembling manufacturing materials, the factory manufactures light trains.
