Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desealegn on December 9, 2015, has inaugurated the Metu-Gambella 230 kilovolt power transmission and power reception and distribution project, Ethiopian News Agency reported.

The project is meant for power supply in Gambella region and surrounding areas.

Moreover, the project is expected to meet power supply gaps in the investment sector as well as facilitate the socio-economic activities at national level, the Premier said.

Hailemariam Desalegn has applauded Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) for the actualization of the project which took more than five years.

Engineer Azeb Asnake, CEO of Ethiopian Electric Power, said EEP spend over one billion Birr to complete the project.
