Ethiopian Power Engineering Industry (EPEI) revealed plans to export transformers to the neighboring countries with an aim to secure foreign earnings for the country, Fana Broadcasting Corporate reported.

EPEI has 10,000 transformer manufacturing capacity per year, its Deputy Manager Engineer Gebrekidan Gebreyes told FBC on November 24, 2015.

EPEI is currently manufacturing distribution, power and special transformers with 15,000-33,000 voltage.

The current local demand for transformer not less than 13,000, EPEI stated. Major Assefa Yohannes, General Manager of EPEI, said the company could meet local demands within one and a half year and then it would start the export of transformers.
