Ethiopia Inaugurates Agula-Berhale-Dalol Road Project

The Agula-Berhale-Dalol road that links the Regional State of Afar with Tigray in Ethiopia had been inaugurated on October 10, 2015, Ethiopian News Agency reported.

The 151 kilometer road was built with three billion Birr cost, according to officials and it will help boost the flow of tourists to Erta Ale, the most active volcano in Ethiopia.

Workeneh Gebeyehu, Transport Minister of Ethiopia and Araya Girmay, Director General of the Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) had attended the inauguration ceremony of the road.

The Agula-Berhale-Dalol road, which took five years to complete, was constructed by Ethiopian Defense Construction Enterprise.

The road project was completed in two phases; Agula-Berhale in Tigray and Berhale-Dalol depression in Afar.

Ethiopia’s current total road coverage is more than 100 thousand kilometers.
