The Ethiopian Road Construction Corporation (ERCC) disclosed on August 27, 2015 that it is to undertake construction and maintenance of over 14,000 kilometers of roads in 2015/16 fiscal year.

Yared Lemma, ERCC Plan and Business Development Department Manager, at the annual performance evaluation of the past Ethiopian budget year said that ERCC performed beyond the aim it set for 2014/15 budget year by carrying out the construction and maintenance of over 14,000 kilometers of roads.

ERCC is currently undertaking the construction and maintenance of roads with the cost of 6.5 billion Birr, Yared noted. It has also created job opportunities for more than 14,000 citizens, added Yared.

Ethiopia has met its aim of becoming the cardinal roads and bridge construction and maintenance contractor in the Horn of Africa by 2015, Habtamu Tegegn, ERCC General Manager pointed out.
