Ethiopia, WIPO Sign MoU

Ambassador Negash Kibret Botora, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the United Nations Office at Geneva and Other International Organizations and Dr. Francis Gurry, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) signed yesterday a Memorandum of Understanding on the Implementation of the Capacity Building in the Use of Appropriate Technology Specific Technical and Scientific Information as a Solution for Identified Development Challenges.

Subsequent to the signing ceremony, they held talks on how to further boost the existing cooperation to a higher level to support Ethiopia’s efforts to build its economy by using appropriate technology and intellectual property tools, Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

Ambassador Negash praised the World Intellectual Property Organization and the Director General for its continued support in bolstering the capacity of Ethiopian Intellectual Property Office in drafting the first national IP policy.
