Jimma-Bonga road, which links Oromia regional State with Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Region (SNNPR), was inaugurated on May 19, 2015 with Birr 896 million, according to Ethiopian News Agency (ENA).

The road covers 110 kilometer.

Ethiopian Roads Authority Acting Director-General, Sissay Bekele told ENA that this is the first part of the Jimma-Bonga-Mizan road project.

Jimma-Bonga road was funded by the African Development Bank and the Ethiopian government, he said.

The Indian Li International Company and South Korean Keangnam Company respectively have undertaken the consultancy and construction work.

Jimma-Bonga road is also part of the main road linking Addis Ababa with South Sudan.
