Ethiopia: Seven Factories Start Construction in Debre Birhan

Seven Companies from different business sectors are set to start construction of factories in Debre Berhan, Ethiopia with a combined investment worth 2.3 Billion Birr, The Daily Monitor reported.

At the ceremony held on Friday April 24, 2015, key government officials, owners and heads of the seven companies had laid cornerstones for the construction of the factories at Debre Berhan industry area.

TGT Enterprise, a tractor and agricultural equipment assembly, My shoes and Leather Manufacturing Plc., PBC products manufacturing factory, a pharmaceuticals factory and metal and steel factory had put corner stones at the ceremony.

Juniper Glass Industries PLC is the first glass bottle factory in the area and it is to start construction of Glass Company with USD 50 million. Roha Ventures in USA is the parent company of Juniper Glass Industries in Ethiopia.

Upon completion of the construction, these factories are expected to create thousands of jobs and will help the city in attracting other manufacturers, said Getaneh Zeke, Mayor of Debre Birhan.
