Ries Engineering Opens Service Center in Bahir Dar

Ries Engineering S.C. (RESCO), which is thean importer and distributer of Ford vehicles and various machineries in Ethiopia,, had has launched its first Quick Lane Vehicle Tier and Auto Service Center in Bahir Dar, Amhara, at a cost of 60 million Birr.

The center is situated on 5,900sqm plot of land and has four-storey building with a shed for vehicle maintenance. The building also includes offices, show rooms and spare part shops, Addis Fortune reported.
RESCO has begun its operation in Ethiopia four decades ago representing Caterpillar and Massey with the inclusion of other manufacturer’s products too.

It had various brands of machinery like tractors and combine harvesters produced by ACGO Corporation, an American Company that manufactures machinery and equipment largely for the agriculture industry.

Services delivered by the center are the following: include oil and filter changes for engines and transmissions, brake services, repairs and replacement of lights, tyre change, wheel alignment and wheel balance.
“The service will be of importance for vehicles for our regional state to get easy access in terms of maintenance service and spare parts”, said Megabiw Tassew, Director of general of the transport authority of the Amhara regional state.

RESCO is among the lists of major automotive and machinery importers in Ethiopia with the sector such as Nyala Motors S.C., B.H. Trading and Manufacturing Plc, Orbis Trading and Technical center S.C., and Marathon Motors.

Data from Ethiopian Revenues and Customs Authority shows that the number of imported vehicles had been escalating. In 2010/11 alone, there were 21,412 new and used vehicles imported, the number rose to 30,128 in 2012/2013. The number has grown to 17,749 in the mid of the last budget year.
