Ethiopia: Addis Ababa Hosted Ethio-South African Business Forum

Ethio-South African business forum on on the investment and trade opportunities accessible in both Ethiopia and South Africa was held on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Washington Hotel in Addis Ababa,The Daily Monitor reported.

The day-long forum organized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs has gathered together 40 South African and more than 75 Ethiopian companies.

The event was officially opened after State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr.Yinager Dessie gave a speech. He had highlighted Ethiopia’s dedication to promote bilateral ties in trade and investment between the two countries subsequent to the adoption of the Joint Economic Mission in 2008.

The main session had included a presentation on ‘Investment Opportunities in Ethiopia’ by Yohhannes Tilahun, a senior Director at the Ethiopian Investment Commission; a sketch of ‘Trade Opportunities in Ethiopia ‘, by Mrs. Haimanot Tibebu, Director for Export Trade Promotion at Ethiopia’s Ministry of Trade; and a presentation on ‘Investment and Trade Opportunities in south Africa’, by Dr. Julius Nyalunga, Director for Export Promotion at South Africa’s Department of Trade and Industry.

Briefings were also given on agro-processing, manufacturing, energy and power.

The forum proceeded with additional Business-to-Business and Government-to-Business networking sessions.
