African Central Bank Governors Meeting in Addis Ababa This Week

The Economic Commission for Africa and the African Union Commission will host the second Caucus of African Central Bank Governors, in Addis Ababa Ethiopia, as side event of the eighth Joint Annual Meetings of the AU Specialized Technical Committee on Finance, Monetary Affairs, Economic Planning and Integration and the ECA Conference of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.

The theme of the Conference is Implementing Agenda 2063- Planning, Mobilizing and Financing for Development. The meeting will be held on March 29, 2015 at the UN Conference Center.

The chief goals of the Caucus are to spot concrete follow-up measures to the results of the first Caucus that took place in Abuja in 2014. In addition, they will look in to measures to boost the role of governors of central banks.

The Caucus will extend a distinctive opportunity for a number of African Central Bank Governors to take on structured dialogue on the matters they would like to see reflected in the outcome document.

The Caucus will also develop an action plan that outlines a road map for the implementation of the proposals of the first Caucus which be held in July 2015.
