Ethiopia: Premier Called on Chinese to Engage in Setting Up Industrial Zones

Ethiopia’s Premier, Hailemariam Dessalegn, called on Chinese companies to take part in the building of industrial zones and parks in Ethiopia.

During his meeting with the Chinese Special Envoy and Deputy Minister of Foreign, Zhang Ming, Haile Mariam said the cooperation of the two countries in aviation, railway and road construction, poverty reduction and industrial development is vital for Ethiopia’s development.

He pointed out Chinese companies and investors involvement in the setting up of industrial zones will contribute a lot for the East African nation’s industrial development. He also called on them to invest in the development of potash which he said will benefit the investors and Ethiopia too.

The Premier also noted his government will provide support for Chinese companies that will invest in different sectors of the country. He also passed his gratitude for China in the support it has been rendering to IGAD in the quest for stabilizing Eastern Africa and particularly South Sudan.

Ming on his part said the growth that has been witnessed in the bilateral ties of Ethiopia and China in the last year has been tremendous. He furthered leaders of the two countries have set a long term plan which will strengthen the friendship of the two countries.
