Swiss Business Delegation Visiting Ethiopia

A business delegation that constitutes representatives of 12 Swiss companies and led by the Switzerland’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Andrea Semadeni, are on a five days business visit in Addis Ababa in search of investment opportunities. The delegation started its visit on Monday, September 29 and it is going to last until Friday, October 3, 2014.

The delegation had a business forum at Radisson Blu Hotel on its first day of visit. The forum was organized by the Ethiopian Embassy in Geneva, Switzerland Global Enterprise and the Swiss–African Business Circle.

The Forum was attended by different senior government officials from the ministries of Trade, Industry, Mining, Agriculture and Urban Development and Construction. Other participants of the Forum were representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, railways and other organizations.

The 12 companies that came to Ethiopia to look at investment opportunities are involved in different sectors; including agro-processing, railway technology, media, pharmaceuticals, mining, and finance development.

The Forum witnessed presentations on Ethiopia’s investment opportunities, the legal framework for investment, and on future prospects as well as accounts of the experience of companies that have already invested in Ethiopia.

The participants commented, during the Monday’s Forum, their visit will strengthen economic ties of the two countries.

According to Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the delegation is the first official business delegation from Switzerland to visit Ethiopia.
