Huajian Group to Build Industrial Zone in Ethiopia

Huajian Group, a Chinese shoe manufacturer, is going to invest U.S $ 2.2 Billion in Ethiopia to build an Industrial Zone of its own. The industrial zone is going to be around Lebu area, South Western outskirts of Addis Ababa.

The construction of is expected to begin in the coming year. The Reporter noted it learnt from the Ministry of Industry, Huajian has secured a plot of land as well as a license for the construction. The size of the land Huajian secured in the Lebu area is 138 hectares.

The newly to be built zone is expected to incorporate 45 textile and garment , leather and leather products, chemical and pharmaceuticals, agro-processing and metal engineering factories. According to The Reporter the group expects to generate U.S $ 250 Million per annum form export.

Huajian made its first debut in the Ethiopian economy after setting up a shop in the nation’s first industrial zone; Eastern Industry Zone.
