Ethiopia: City Investment Agency Invites Local Manufacturers to Move into Industry Zones

The Addis Abeba Investment Agency (AAIA) is inviting local investors in the manufacturing sector to move into 330ha industrial zones it has prepared in Nefas Silk Lafto and Akaki Kaliti districts, Fortune reported.

The offer, made only to local businesses, will have leases prices fixed through negotiation, said Kidanemihret Berhe, director of the AAIA. The size of plots for lease will be determined based on the project the investors submit to the Agency.

There is also existing industrial zones in both the Akaki Kaliti and Lafto districts, each covering 2,800sqm, populated by garment, shoes, agro-processing and metal manufacturers.

Textile and garment, leather products, agro-processing and chemical manufacturers have been prioritized by the new offer, according to Fortune.

Building of roads to the industrial zones and installation of water, electricity and telephone lines have already been completed.
