Chinese Company Begins Railway Project in Ethiopian Capital

China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co Ltd has begun work on a light railway project in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The 37.381km rail lines will radiate to different parts of the Ethiopian capital.  

A 17.26km stretch of railway will connect Ayat Village to the Defense forces Hospital while 16.246km of rail lines will lead from Meskel Square to Kality and 3.875km of railway is to extend between Lideta and Menilik Square.

 

Salini Construction Reports Progress on Gilgel Gibe III, Ethiopia

Salini Construction announced the completion of the basement work on Gilgel Gibe III hydro power dam in Ethiopia. The Italian contractor has started filling the dam according to Engineer Azeb Asnake Project Manager, Gilgel Gibe III, Ethiopia.  

Salini is filling the dam with a dry mix concrete compacted by rollers said Azeb.

CCECC to build Ethiopian Railway Lines

The Ethiopian Railway Corporation and the China Engineering Construction (CCECC) signed an agreement for the construction of an electric railway line between Me’eso-Dire Dawa-Dewale, a region which lies in the eastern part of Ethiopia, on the 16th of December.

The Ethiopian Railway Corporation opted for electric railways because they are almost six times cheaper than the diesel powered  variety according Doctor Engineer Getachew Betru General Manager of ERC.

Chinese and Israeli Companies Submit Proposals for Ethiopia Telecommunication Project

Chinese companies ZTE and Huawei, both having a strong presence in Ethiopia, and an Israeli firm ECI submitted technical and commercial proposals for the expansion project planned by the Ethiopian telecom provider, last week.

The three companies are only three of the seven international telecom network providers who received invitations from Ethio Telecom to submit expressions of interest said Abdurahim Ahmed Ethio Telecom External Communications Manager.

Major Road to be Constructed in Ethiopian Capital

A 60 million US dollar agreement was signed for the construction of the road between Meskel Square to Bole Airport, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia last week. The agreement was signed by Fekade Haile, manager of the Addis Ababa City Roads Authority and Zhou Yong Sheng, general manager of the China Road and Bridge Addis Engineering plc.

The road construction project will be funded by a 20 million birr loan from the Import-Export Bank of China, approved by the Parliament.
