South West Energy Completes Seismic Survey in Ethiopia

South West Energy has finalized 1640 line kilometers of 2D seismic survey of is concession in the Ogaden basin of Ethiopia.

The first indigenous gas and oil company in Ethiopia, South West contracted the survey to GII a geophysics company completing the survey in nine months according to sources at the Ethiopian Ministry of Mines.

GII submitted the seismic data it collected from the South West concession in Degehabur zone of the Ogaden Basin to South West Energy and the MoM last week.

 

 

Ethiopian Potash Announces More Positive Drills in Ethiopia

The Ethiopian Potash Corporation announced more positive drilling results from its Danakil Project, Ethiopia.

Ethiopian Potash drilled more than 6,500 meters in 26 holes with the holes located in the southwestern corner of its concession and along the western edge of the basin over an area measuring 10 by 4 kilometers.

Assays continue to show that the shallowest and highest grade holes in the basin are being drilled on the western side of the concession according to David Wahl, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Potash.

 

New Tantalum Discoveries in Ethiopia

Kenticha Borena-Ethiopian Mineral Development SC announced new tantalum ore discoveries at the Kenticha tantalum mine to be found in Oromia Regional State of Ethiopia.

The newly discovered tantalum reserve is estimated to of high quality and approximately 2500 tons according to experts with the EMDSC.  

The company has so far been engaged in surface mining and the discovery of primary ore is expected to enhance its production significantly explained the experts.

 

Tigray Resources Discovers Additional Copper Resources in Ethiopia

Tigray Resources encountered an additional copper-polymetallic mineralization close to the site of its successful drilling last year at its Terakimti prospect in Ethiopia.

Tigray highlighted as much as 74 meters of 3.77% copper, 14 g/t silver, 1.31g/t gold, and 0.72% percent at about 57 meters down at the Terakimti site last December.

The latest results from Tigray reveal that it has intersected with 41 meters of 3.24% copper, 25 g/t silver, 1.19 g/t gold and 1.19% zinc at 41 meters away from its previous intercept.

 

Tratos Cavi to Supply Cable for Ethiopian Dam

Tratos Cavi secured the contract to supply high and low voltage cable for Ethiopia’s Grand Renaissance Dam. The cable manufacturer secured the contract estimated to be in the multi millions from contractor Salini.

The dam being constructed on the Nile river is expected to have the capacity to carry 66 billion m3 of water and generate an estimated 15,100 GWh of electricity annually.
