McKinsey Co. to Open Offices in Ethiopia

McKinsey and Company, an international consulting firm in the management industry, is to open an office in Ethiopia. The firm is entering Ethiopia to take advantage of increasing market opportunities in the agricultural, industrial and service sectors. 

The McKinsey and Co. office in Ethiopia is expected to service foreign investors investing in the Ethiopian agro industry sector from China, India and Turkey and other countries according to sources.

The agro industry sector in Ethiopia is open to foreign investment and has attracted international investors and consultants according to Zemedeneh Nigatu, Managing Partner with Ernest and Young.

There are many opportunities for firms like McKinsey and Company created by the growing market of the country he said.

There has as yet been no definite information as to the opening of the office noted Zemedeneh.

McKinsey and Co. is recognized for consulting services in corporate finance, business technology, risk strategy, operations, marketing and sales, resource productivity and sustainability.

A study conducted MacKinsey and Co. on sustainability and resource productivity last November remarked that the latest acceleration of agricultural development in Ethiopia is founded on integrated projects in priority areas including enhanced frontline productivity, increased development of sustainable irrigation, improve the structure of the industry, adopt a sustainable approach to preserve and increase cultivated land, develop necessary infrastructure, create enabling environment including access to finance, building human capacity and innovative use of technology and communications.

McKinsey & Company was established in 1926, currently has 15,000 employees with many prestigious international companies including  Pepsi Co, AT&T, GE, IBM and General Motors Corps as customers.
