Ethiopian Capital to Improve Information System

The city administration of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, has committed to improve the capital’s information system according to Kefeyalew Azeze, Head of the Addis Ababa City Administration Public Relations Office.

The Addis Ababa administration plans to set up a modern and effective technology based information system he said, speaking at a two-day training held on effective information management given to senior officials.

To this end the city cabinet of Addis Ababa has established the Information Provision and Standardization Project Office to ensure the accessibility of information, transparency and accountability explained Kefeyalew.

The new office is dedicated to structure the information system to attain the desired goals and address long standing problems in information management in the city he noted.

The Information Provision and Standardization Project Office has so far been involved in formulating policy, and rules to restructure the information system as well as offering training to executive management teams said Kefeyalew.

The office has also conducted a study on ICT infrastructure and the effective use of websites according to Kefeyalew.

Trainings were given to Record and Documentation personnel as well as to ICT professionals.
