The construction work on the Africa Avenue-Meskel Square road in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia is well underway according to sources.
The project is being funded by a 60 million dollar loan from the China Export-Import Bank of China which was approved by the Ethiopian Council of Ministers late last year.
The Road is expected to be completed in two years in time for the 50th year Anniversary of the African Union to be celebrated in 2013 said Eng. Fekade Haile Addis Ababa City Roads Authority Director-General.
The project to upgrade the existing road is being carried out by Chinese contractors CRBC.The road project will strengthen the relations between Ethiopia and China said Xie Xiaoyan Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia speaking at the launching ceremony.
China is pledged to support continued efforts for development in Ethiopia said the Ambassador.
